The Refocused user guide

How to install, activate, and use the Refocused desktop app. Select your platform in the sidebar and the instructions adjust for macOS, Windows, or Linux.

Finding your way around

Refocused runs entirely on your machine: a desktop app in front, a local inference engine behind it. Use the app's left sidebar to switch screens, or press 19. The rail lists the Dashboard first, then two groups: Workflows (Enhance, Refine, Activity) and Library (Model Library, Projects, Videos), with Settings and the in-app Guide at the bottom. The Collapse button shrinks the rail to icons; it collapses on its own while you work in Refine, and a live Refine session appears as its own row under Refine so you can jump back to it.

The Dashboard: workflow launchers, engine status, model readiness for each workflow, and recent projects.
1 · Dashboard
Status overview: engine state, model readiness for Enhance and Refine, recent projects, and setup steps on first run.
2 · Enhance
The upscaling workflow: pick a video, shape the pipeline, run a job.
3 · Refine
A workspace for finishing passes: masks, mixing, patches, focus effects. A live session shows as a row under it.
4 · Activity
Live job progress plus CPU / GPU / memory monitoring.
5 · Model Library
Download model weights and compile engines for your hardware.
6 · Projects
Every job you have run, with timing, configuration, and artifacts.
7 · Videos
Every video the app knows about, and the projects each belongs to.
8 · Settings
Engine paths, window behavior, license management, media libraries.
9 · Guide
This guide, inside the app.

The Dashboard's Model Library cell shows two readiness meters, one per workflow: Enhance turns amber when a model it needs is not built yet, while missing Refine models are optional and stay dim. Click the cell to go to the Model Library.

The pill in the top-right corner shows your license state: Licensed, Free Trial · N days left, or an error if something needs attention. Click it for details.
